Christopher Leeson is a native Calgarian writer, documentary producer, and historian whose work has taken him from the streets of London and Paris to monasteries in Germany and political circles in the Middle East. He has spent much of his career uncovering the hidden human stories behind politics, landscapes, and historical events. Today, he brings that same eye for detail and narrative to personal historical tours of Calgary and Southern Alberta.

Leeson has developed dramatic projects rooted in early Southern Alberta history, including extensive work on the first cattle drives into the province and the ranching culture that followed. His historical interests lean strongly toward social history and the original voices that shaped the West: ranchers, settlers, cowboys, railway workers, immigrants, Indigenous communities, drifters, entrepreneurs, and political outsiders
In Calgary, his tours move beyond dates and landmarks. Rather than treating history as distant or formal, he is interested in the lived experience of ordinary people and the atmosphere of the worlds they inhabited.
Leeson studied at the London Film School, has a BA History from the University of British Columbia, and trained in Broadcasting at Mount Royal University in Calgary. His film and television work includes producing the Canadian Screen Award-winning feature film Elijah for CTV, the award-winning documentary No Roads In for CBC Gem, and documentary and dramatic projects in Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. Leeson has lived and worked in the UK, Germany and Italy.
Whether guiding visitors through downtown Calgary, along Stephen Avenue, through the history of the Bow River, or into the broader stories of Southern Alberta and the foothills, Leeson combines the instincts of a filmmaker with the depth of a historian.
